A review of Greens Vegetarian Cafe in Hebden Bridge

Greens
Hebden Bridge is the north of England’s number one destination for all things holistic, alternative and eco. Discerning foodie Rosi Price reviews her favourite eating spot.

Some of the best Sundays my husband and I have had in the last two years have featured a 100-mile round trip to have lunch at a very special place: Greens Vegetarian Cafe in Hebden Bridge (pictured).

Greens is aptly named as the owner, Kim Green, is a passionate vegetarian ho prepares the wholesome food herself, from scratch.

There is a big emphasis on healthy vegan options, including the fabulous raw salad, and the menu also includes raw juices.

There is something for everyone here so although this is a “veggie” it also attracts many non-vegetarian customers.

The main menu is backed up by daily specials which never fail to excite. Kim also makes the best wholesome desserts and cakes I have ever had. Her vegan chocolate cake is legendary, as is her gluten-free bread.

The food is mostly organic and Kim has taken the health option a step further by investing in non-toxic green pans. Everything is very reasonably priced and you can even take your own wine.

Greens Vegetarian Cafe is open daytimes from Wednesday to Saturday. The restaurant opens for evening dining Friday and Saturday, 6:30pm to late.

Visit the website to find out more, including about the restaurant’s popular themed evenings. Coming up: Indian weekend, on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th November.
